Nature’s Gatorade: SPA WATER

Oh boy it’s hawt!!! Sweltering. Which is why this old fashioned Nature’s Gatorade Spa Water is where it’s at. While it’s essential to stay hydrated, and the power drinks and sugar-laden juices are all too tempting, it’s important to drink as much WATER as you can get into you…or your kids.

But let’s face it – water can get BORING. And sometimes it doesn’t even feel like it’s quenching your thirst. If you’re looking for some electrolyte action check out my Hydrating Elixir. If you’re looking for a way to simply jazz up your water I have a solution.

Spa Water: the winning combinations

Spa Water.

We’ve been drinking Spa Water in my house for a few years now – since Larry and I experienced this at the Mud Baths in Napa Valley. We couldn’t believe how refreshing a bit of cucumber made the water and ice. At home we usually add lemon and mint, as well. Cucumber and mint are naturally cooling to the body – lemon has added benefits, by acting as a gentle liver detoxifyer and digestive aid.

But I felt ready for something different. So I took my garden herbs and began experimenting. The combination options are endless…

Spa Water: fresh lemon, raspberries, lavender

Spa Water: blackberries & sage

Spa Water: pineapple & mint

Spa Water: mango & basil

The recipe is really simple. Take chosen fruit/vegetable/herb combo, place in mason jar, add water and ice. Shake. Let sit for a while. Drink. INCREDIBLY REFRESHING!!!

Some people choose to muddle the fruit and herbs with the ice. While it infuses the water nicely I don’t feel is NECESSARY. Do as you please.

Perhaps this will inspire me to get a little more creative than my usual lemon slices or mint.
